Summer Fencing Camp
July 29 @ 8:00 am - August 1 @ 5:00 pm$250
This exciting 4-day Chicago area fencing camp is offered by the championship winning Libertyville and Vernon Hills High School Fencing Team in partnership with the Great Lakes Fencing Academy. If you would like to fence in high school, this is a perfect way to give fencing a try or build your skills.
Each day starts with fun games to get warmed up. The games are followed by footwork drills, blade work drills, agility training, stamina training, lots of fencing bouts (both dry and electric) and end with more games to cool down.
Mikhail Tsipis, the saber fencing coach at Libertyville High School and a coach at Great Lakes Fencing Academy, will lead the camp. The Thundercats saber team have won the Junior Varsity three years in a row and epee and saber teams won the Varsity Championship in 2016 and 2017. Coach Tsipis will be assisted by advanced fencers in epee, saber and foil who are members of the fencing team.
Fencers will be broken into groups based on weapon and experience so each fencer will receive lots of individualized instruction. New fencers will have an opportunity to try epee, foil and saber to see which weapon they like best.
